In 2018, we visited Qingauq (Bathurst Inlet) with Dr. Max Friesen and a group of 10 people who had ties to the area. This trip was part of a multi-year collaboration to look at Inuinnait cultural history and archaeology in the region. We documented oral histories, traditional knowledge, myths, legends, and Inuinnaqtun phrases, sparking memories and looking at places where Inuinnait lived before relocation to communities. In this video, Elder Mary Kaniak tells us about how Inuinnait used caches to store food.
